It’s a joy to share this book with you—a labor of love, inspired by years of connection to Kantha and the beauty it brings to our lives. Each signed copy is my way of personally inviting you into this world of stitch, tradition, and mindful creation. I so hope you enjoy reading the book.
This isn’t a “how-to” book; rather it’s my invitation for you to journey with me into the heart of Kantha. Within these pages, I’ve stitched together strands that bring Kantha to life: its rich history, the techniques at its core, and ways of reimagining this tradition in our times. You’ll find interviews with contemporary makers and artists, insights from my own journey, and reflections on how creative stitch can occupy so many spheres at once—expressive, mindful, sustainable.
Through this book, I hope to bring you closer to the mindful beauty of kantha, inviting you to explore it as a meaningful practice that goes far beyond technique. I also want to make kantha accessible and so have included step by step instructions of stitch techniques used in kantha making extending from embroidery to quilting stitches.
Let this be your gentle guide to discovering Kantha’s richness as a creative expression, and a mindful journey, a sustainable approach to making, one stitch at a time.
You will receive a signed copy by me.

“Ekta has stitched together this book with as much detail and attention as she artfully constructs layers of cloth, and so shared with us the power stitch has to invoke memories of family, home and place”
Cas Holmes, Embroidery Magazine.
“This has to be the most comprehensive book on Kantha yet published.”
